Platt failed to show for pre-season training with The Magpies last week, and on Friday NCM revealed that he was in talks with Grimsby Town about a possible move to Blundell Park.

It was revealed today that Platt is not keen to move from his home in the Midlands, and therefore could well be playing his football at Meadow Lane next season, despite Grismby offering more cash than The Magpies and agreeing a 3 year deal.

It seems to be one thing after another with the 25 year old, after agreeing terms with Bristol Rovers following his release from Rochdale he had a change of heart and admitted he was joining The Magpies.

He failed to show for training last week, with Billy Dearden saying there was "nothing to read into the matter", but on Friday it was revealed he was in talks with Grimsby.

"We will not give up. We are in constant contact and we are monitoring the situation. We'll see what happens and what develops but we are definitely still interested. We still want him," Said Grimsby Town boss Paul Groves.

"He has gone to Notts County to train but they're in administration and there is no guarantee they can sign anybody." He added.
