A repeat of last time please

The last time Notts County visited St James Park, Mark Robson and a brace from both Sean Farrell and Gary Jones tied up an emphatic 5-2 win for Sam Allardyce's championship winning side.

They're back: Exeter won the Conference Play-Off final last year...
When County dropped back into League Two, Exeter City were no longer a football league team, because in 2003 their 83 year stay was ended by a tough campaign that eventually led to their relegation.

City's return to the fourth tier came after a successful play-off venture, which saw them beat both Torquay United and Cambridge United to gain promotion.

This season has been a bit of a mixed bag for City - recording five losses out of the eight played in all competitions.

Despite this, they find themselves four places above Notts in the table on seven points, thanks to an opening day draw against Darlington, and victories against Bournemouth and Accrington Stanley.

Notts' form is far more consistent - attaining five consecutive league draws, following on from a 2-1 loss to Bradford City.

Pitting the teams against each other in past encounters, County come out on top - winning 14 and drawing 15 of the 34 played.

The last time that Exeter overcame Notts was in 1967, winning 1-0 - the only time that they have defeated the Magpies at home.

The Magpies are the highest placed of four teams in League Two not to earn a win, but definitely need to get three points under their belts soon.

Failure to do so on Saturday could continue to hamper the team's morale even more, after a string of impressive performances that have failed to reap the rewards they deserve.

A repeat of the last visit to Exeter will no doubt do for Ian McParland and the travelling fans.
