The former Cardiff man, released by the Bluebirds in the summer of last year to subsequently join the Magpies, picked up the injury after taking a clattering from behind from a Rushden challenge, with the ample frame of the 6"1 striker slumping to the floor as a result.

Gordon: Out for the count....
And, as NCM reported just yesterday, it now seems very much as though the fans’ love-hate empathy of the 26-year old can be put on hold, for now. His season looking very much at an end after sustaining a broken jaw in Saturday’s relegation ‘six pointer’

The eight-goal striker – who also boasts the likes of Hull City, Lincoln and Oxford amongst his former clubs – yesterday underwent surgery to fix the break, situated just above the lip.

"Gavin [Gordon] had an operation on his jaw on Sunday afternoon, and at the moment it is difficult to gage how long we are looking to be without him for," Manager Ian Richardson said, speaking to the club’s official site.

"He took a nasty bang and it broke the jaw just above his lip. It did some serious damage and a few of this teeth took a bang and he was in a very bad way."

"Luckily, he came through the operation fine and he will be reporting in tomorrow and we will when see how long he will be out for. We are seeing the surgeon who performed the operation so he will then be able to see how things are."

Although for now, with the return of another striker in Steve Scoffham imminent, Richardson seems to be making plans for the rest of the season with some enthusiasm…just now, thanks to injury, with the Notts number nine no longer in the frame.
