Team news...Vs Middlesborough

Notts County Caretaker player-boss Ian Richardson is short of options as he looks to mastermind arguably the biggest Cup upset in the club's history.

Richardson is still unable to select himself due to continued knee trouble, while fellow long-term absentees Mike Edwards (cruciate) and Steve Scoffham (broken leg) remain on the sidelines.

Baudet: Suspended
Richo is also without on-loan goalkeeper Wayne Henderson as Aston Villa don't want their man cup-tied, while French defender Julien Baudet serves a one-match ban.

Welsh Under-21 captain David Pipe is now expected to play, after previously looking certain to miss the encounter due to an ankle injury sustained during Monday's 0-0 draw against Rochdale. The versatile star may well be risked though, due to Notts' lack of defenders.

Rob Ullathorne, who, you may have heard, is 'the only experienced left back at the club', is the only remaining doubt due to illness, but the former Leicester man is expected to play.

The Magpies are expected to continue with the 4-4-2 formation that has seen a mini-revival of late, but Richardson's hand may be forced due to a lack of defenders.

If the 4-4-2 is persevered with, it is a fight between teenagers Kelvin Wilson and Emmet Friars, plus Pipe to partner Mike Whitlow at the heart of the defence.

Midfielder Matthew Gill returns after suffering from food poisoning, but may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Notts (probable): Deeney; Wilson, Pipe, Whitlow, Ullathorne; Scully, Bolland, Oakes, Palmer; Hurst, Gordon.

Subs (from): Petterson, Friars, McFaul, Gill, Williams, Harrad.
