Team news...Vs Darlington

Last updated : 11 February 2005 By Rob Davies
Notts County player/manager Ian Richardson is hoping he can send out a side to actually score a goal for the first time since the 2-0 win over Scunthorpe three weeks ago.

Richardson has again been unsuccesful in his attempts to add fresh blood to his ailing squad, with his defence again a cause for concern.

Who's back? It's Mike!
The gaffer himself continues to be ruled out by a worryingly long knee injury, while Mike Edwards (cruciate) is still a long way off a return to first team action.

And while Mike Whitlow made his return from a three-week layoff earlier this week, in typical Notts fashion, another centre back, Julien Baudet, has failed a fitness test for an ankle injury and will not play.

This means that the returning Whitlow is likely to be partnered by teenage Kelvin Wilson - who looks badly in need of a rest.

Elsewhere, Mark Stallard will start in his second game since returning to the club last week, and will no doubt be hoping for better service then he got last Saturday.

Stallard's strike partner is likely to be one of mis-firing duo Glynn Hurst - who reportedly threw a tantrum after being left out last week - or Gavin Gordon, despite Matty Williams continualy impressing for the reserves.

In midfield, Chris Palmer could come in for his first start in nearly a month, while Richardson may again decide to leave influential playmaker Stefan Oakes on the bench.

Notts (possible): Deeney; Pipe, Wilson, Whitlow, Ullathorne; Bolland, Gill, Oakes, Palmer; Stallard, Hurst.

Subs (from): Elliot, Friars, McFaul, Scully, Williams, Harrad, Gordon.
