Team News…vs. Swansea City

Last updated : 04 March 2005 By Richard Brown

The Magpies have been lucky, for once, in whittling down their injury list to just a small body of the squad, especially considering that it was not uncommon for Notts to have just sixteen fit players for the duration of the winter period.

Whitlow: Crocked
Although Notts have been by no means lucky in potentially losing Mike Whitlow to knee injury, for this weekend at least.

The 37-year Notts captain, who’s been nothing short of exceptional in recent weeks, went for a scan last week, the results showing that he was to most definitely miss last week’s 10 victory at Adams Park – the Magpies’ first in 10 visits there.

Now, although it seems very unlikely that the club captain will make this weeks visit of Swansea, Notts can only hold out hope that they will have the former Sheffield United man back within their squad by next week.

Fellow defender Kelvin Wilson has also been dogged with knee problems this week, although is expected to start alongside Frenchman Julien Baudet.

Striker Steve Scoffham – thought to be set to return this week for the reserves – is still sidelined due a broken leg. His first team return is said to be not so far away, however.

Defender Mike Edwards (cruciate ligament) and target-man Gordon (broken jaw) remain the Magpies longer term injury victims, whilst Ian Richardson is also due to return within the month.

Off-colour hitman Glynn Hurst is expected to be preffered to youngster Shaun Harrad in attack, while Rob Ullathorne will again play through the pain barrier as he carries a groin strain at left back.

Stay tuned to Notts County MAD for more news, reports and reaction over the coming weekend.
