Notts vs Wrexham- Last time

When Notts last played Wrexham fans were optimistic of promotion to Division 1 after some sterling summer signings, Notts were not in administration (yes there was a time when we weren't) and Gary Owers was still at the club AND in the starting line-up (oh how we miss him so).

In all 6 players in the starting line-up that day have since departed Notts.

Simon Grayson went back to Blackburn after a short loan spell and has since joined Blackpool, Gary Owers & Mark Warren were both released at the end of the 01-02 season & Marcel Cas left in the middle of last season to join Sheffield United who have since decided they don't want him, so he has joined Grimsby.

And more recently, Danny Allsopp left to join Hull & Craig Ireland was released this summer and has joined Barnsley.

Here is a match report from that day by Mark 'Stevo' Stevenson:

The deadlock was broken on six minutes, when Mark Stallard was clumsely brought down in the area by Warren, the referee dubiously gave a penalty.
Up stepped on form Australian striker Danny Allsopp, he fired it and the ball sailed past Rogers.

Lee Trundle caused Notts problems throughout the match with his quick tuning, dribbling skills and general creativity, he hit a weak shot, but the ball carelessly fired off Craig Ireland and went past Mildenhall after poor comuincation.
Darren Caskey- star man that day

Debutee Simon Grayson had a fruitfull match and he assited Allsopps' second, Allsopp broke through the defence after a great pass by Grayson, Allsopp went round Walsh and hit the ball home.

Carlos Edwards was playing merry go round with Notts' unstable defence, he then on 50 minutes, found Chris Falconbridge and the former Coventry player brought the ball down beutifully and hit a shot with power and the ball sailed passed Mildenhall.

Craig Ireland was hacked down by Lee Trundle and Craig will miss Tuesday's clash with Man. City.

Marcel Cas and Grayson both had chances to give the Magpies the three points, but this was not to be. Cas who had a dissapointing game, fired shots over the bar. Darren Caskey was the man of the match for me, his distribution as good as ever. But the lack of movement and players not wanting the ball was a let down, as the game was only a slight improvement against Chesterfield.

The defence was also poor, Jocky Scott, describing it as "criminal", and if that performance will be repeated on tuesday night, then Man City will crush us.
