Nick "Up the Maggies"
Which stand do you usually sit in ?
Sirrel "Z" block
Where are you from ?
How long have you been a Notts Fan ?
Why did you start to support Notts, and not the scum over the water ?
In the late 70s I supported Liverpool when the Scum were their biggest
rivals, most kids at school supported the scum so naturally I grew to
despise them. There was no way I was going to risk seeing Liverpool lose
at the City Ground so I eventually went to see them at Meadow Lane, then I
realised Notts was the closest ground to where I was born and lived Notts
were my ultimate destiny.
Who has been the best player you have ever seen in a Notts shirt ?
John Chiedozie was very exciting but I'll go for Tommy Johnson - his
single minded determination and enthusiasm was infectious (on the team as well as the fans).
What was the first Notts game you ever went to ?
Notts 1 Liverpool 2 - November 1982.
Notts 2 Scum 1 - February 1994, I missed the 3-2 win in 1982 and had
waited 12 seasons for this, the way it happened was a dream.
What is the worst Notts game you have ever been to ?
There is nothing worse than losing to the Scum, I try not to remember.
Who have been the best opposition you have ever seen at Meadow Lane ?
Sheffield United in both December 1988 and April 1992, direct but
absolutely devastating, they won 4-1 and 3-1.
Who has been the best opposition player you have ever seen down at the Lane?
Kenny Dalglish (Liverpool)
What has been the best away ground you have ever been to ?
Old Trafford (1991)
What has been the worst away ground you have ever been to ?
Doncaster Rovers (1989)
What has been your funniest moment down at Notts County ?
v Birmingham City (Feb 1993), we were 2-1 up with a few minutes to go, a
Notts player booted the ball into the deserted end of the Main Stand, a
frantic Blues player hurdled the advertising hording, the perimeter fence
and the partition wall to retreive the ball - he did the same coming back,
took a short throw and his colleague miss-kicked it straight back to where
he had fetched it from. That was also the night Karren Brady stormed out
of the directors lounge.
Best Moment as a Notts fan ?
Coming back up the M1 in June 1991 anticipating the next season's fixtures.
Worst Moment as a Notts fan ?
Walking back through town after losing 3-1 to Walsall in the Play off Semi
first leg at Meadow Lane in May 1988. Missing out on promotion at the
death is worse than going down - you're just not prepared for it.
Which player have you been most impressed with this season, if any?
Who looks the most exciting prospect at the Lane ?
Paul Heffernan, be nice to see him lining up alongside Finnan for Ireland
in the 2006 World Cup.
How do you think the season has gone, so far?
No matter what the circumstances Notts should never be anything less than
top half of Division Two.
And finally, Where do you think Notts will end up this season?
We'll stay up because we absolutely have to.
