Why did you start to support Notts, and not the scum over the water ?
good question, especially whe you consider that f****t had just got promoted to the old 1st division (now the premier) and were about to hit the most successful period in their history. somehow i found myself at meadow lane on a cold tuesday night watching notts play motherwell in the anglo-scottish cup! i guess i just wanted to be different from all the band-wagon jumpers at school. also, the hardest lad in my class just happened to be a notts fan so if i needed protection........
Who has been the best player you have ever seen in a Notts shirt ?
Lots of faves but probably tommy johnson for all the good times during the early '90s.
What was the first Notts game you ever went to ?
a 1-0 win over motherwell in the anglo scottish cup - sep 27th 1977.
What is the best Notts game you have ever been to ?
notts 3 f-word 2 . 4th december 1982. the match had everything, plenty of goals, a sending off, 23,000 packed into the lane and match of the day cameras present to capture it all.
What is the worst Notts game you have ever been to ?
there's been a few of them! probably bournemouth at home 2001 during jocky scott's reign. it was a memorable low point. i also remember being pretty gutted after watching us get battered 6-0 at home to villa in the fa cup (jan 1982) and 4-0 at home to those scum bags across the trent (1992).
Who have been the best opposition you have ever seen at Meadow Lane ?
man united and liverpool during the 80s.
Who has been the best opposition player you have ever seen down at the Lane ?
paul gascoigne.
What has been the best away ground you have ever been to ?
wembley (for the memories) and old trafford (with notts and england). i'm actually quite a saddo that enjoys watching notts play at smaller and run down 'traditional' venues. york city, brentford and blackpool (before re-development) are some of my faves!
What has been the worst away ground you have ever been to ?
chesterfield is a tip but its still got character (see reply to previous question)
What has been your funniest moment down at Notts County ?
watching the ref get twatted by a notts fan against lincoln a few years ago. i know its naughty but it made me crease at the time!
Best Moment as a Notts fan ?
the first 2 play off finals at wembley, winning the 3rd division championship in record time (1998) and every time we've beaten the scum. that's just a wonderful feeling.
Worst Moment as a Notts fan ?
relegation to division 3 after having seen them play in the top division. we live in hope of a return....one day!
Which player have you been most impressed with this season, if any?
nicky fenton - he's premiership quality and unfortunately he wont be around at the lane for much longer.
WHICH PLAYER(S) WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE DEARDEN NOT PICKING FOR THE SIDE ON A REGULAR BASIS?
I WOULD SAY CASKEY EXCEPT THAT I KNOW HE IS A QUALITY PLAYER ON HIS DAY. I JUST WISH HE WOULD SHOW IT MORE OFTEN...AND LOSE SOME WEIGHT!
Who looks the most exciting prospect at the Lane ?
PAUL HEFFERNAN. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT LEON BEST IN THE YOUTH TEAM IS ONE TO LOOK OUT FOR THOUGH I'VE YET TO SEE HIM PLAY MYSELF.
Do you think Dearden is the right man for the job ?
ABSOLUTELY. A GREAT BLOKE WHO SEEMS TO HAVE GOT THE RESPECT OF HIS PLAYERS AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. IT'LL BE INTERESTING TO SEE JUST HOW WELL HE DOES WHEN GIVEN THE MONEY TO BRING IN HIS OWN PLAYERS. I'D ALSO LIKE TO SEE HIM BRING IN HIS OWN ASSISTANT MANAGER.
What kind of players do you think notts need in order to get out of relegAtion ?
SOME TOUGH TACKLING, BALL WINNING MIDFIELDERS AND A DECENT RIGHT BACK.
And finally, Where do you think Notts will end up this season?
MID TABLE AT BEST UNLESS BILLY IS ALLOWED TO STRENGTHEN THE SQUAD.
