The Trust ‘looks forward'

The Football League will discuss the bid tomorrow (June 4th) where it is expected that membership of the League will be transferred to the new owners, thus ensuring that the world’s oldest league club will be playing Second Division football next season.

Notts County has been in administration since June 2002, during which time there have been concerns regarding the short-term future of the club. The last few weeks have been particularly stressful for all those connected with Notts County, with the proposed sale only having been accepted by creditors on Friday (30th May).

Since its formal establishment in April, the Notts County Supporters Trust has been involved in negotiations with the administrator, interested parties, Nottingham City Council, as well as garnering support and advice from other Trusts that have been through similar experiences.

Now that Frank Strang and Raj Bhatia have been announced as the successful bidders, the Trust will concentrate on how it may work constructively with the new owners in the best interests of the club and its supporters. To this end, the Trust will be contacting the successful party to discuss ways that its growing membership can be involved and that lessons are learnt from the past few months to ensure a bright future for Notts County Football Club.

Secretary, Nigel King
Trust Secretary, Nigel King stated “The Trust welcomes the announcement and looks foward to the club progressing after the months of administration stalemate. We will be seeking talks with the new management team at the earliest possible opportunity to discuss their plans and determine how the constructive involvement of the Trust may be brought about”.
