The aims of the meeting were to set out the aims of the Trust, and to discover how the Trust can help the club and how the club can help the Trust. Notts County Supporters Trust is a new and developing organisation and with over 1100 members represents 20 per cent of the club's fan-base.

Naturally, until the sale of the Club to the new owners is finally completed, discussions about future plans remain at an early stage. However, the Trust is encouraged by the opening of communications and welcomes the agreement to a further meeting on 26th June by which time we are hopeful that the sale of the Club will have been concluded.

The Trust also welcomes the positive response to our request for a fans' forum with the new owners to allow Supporters to gain an understanding of the future plans for the Club.

Trust Chair, David Hindley said "at its inception the Trust set out to strengthen the voice of supporters and to foster links between the club, its community, and the fans. These are common objectives throughout the Supporters' Trust movement.

Having met with Sam McEwan we are encouraged that they broadly agree with the philosophy of Supporters Trusts and that those people running football clubs have a moral responsibility to their fans.

Underpinning this is the need for two-way communication between Notts County Football Club and its supporters, and from the discussion with Sam McEwan it is clear that the Trust can have a positive role to play in this.

Creating a regular dialogue with the club is vital, and only through communication can the Trust find out what the club needs and suggest ways in which the supporters can help. We hope this will be the first in a series of meetings and that when the takeover has been finalised the Trust can develop a constructive relationship with the new owners."

Speaking the day after the discussion with Trust representatives, Sam McEwan commented "the meeting with Notts County Supporters Trust was both positive and constructive".
