Notts give York a helping hand

York are in imminent danger of closing down forever. Their Supporters' Trust donated £92k to keep the club going and in order to gain control of the Club, the fans of York had to put a further £60k in over last weekend to cover the running costs of the Club until the Trust's rescue package can be completed. However they were still around £10k short of that figure and the Trusts of several clubs including Preston, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Leicester, AFC Wimbledon had already held bucket collections at matches to raise funds.

"The vast majority of people were very supportive both inside and outside the club last night of what we were trying to do
" said Trust chairman John Thornhill. "Nobody was pressurised into contributing, every person who helped did it in their time, of their free will and believing it was right and I would like to thank everyone concerned. As ever it is easy to
criticise and difficult to solve these problems but a sight more commendable if you actually try to contribute in some way. Despite their own problems the York Trust has been very supportive of us in getting our own initiative off the ground and was good to be able to help them this positive
way"
