New owners rule out move to City Ground

The pledge was made at a positive and constructive meeting between Notts County Supporters Trust representatives and Sam McEwan on Wednesday 25th June. Mr. McEwan also played down talk of a move to a “super stadium” as highly speculative and confirmed the commitment of the Bhatia/Strang team to Meadow Lane as the home of Notts County.

Trust representatives pursued a number of issues raised by Trust members concerning the current situation at the Club.

City Ground
Top of the agenda was the position regarding the take-over and final date when the Club will emerge from administration. This is crucial in terms of issues like season ticket sales and the signing of new players. Mr. McEwan assured the Trust representatives that a statement clarifying the position would be made very shortly in order to keep supporters informed.

The Trust also welcomed Mr. McEwan’s assurances that a way would be found to ensure that season ticket bond holders did not lose out and that facilities for community and educational use at Meadow Lane would be retained and indeed strengthened under the new owners.

Richmond agrees to work with The Trust
The Trust has also secured the assurance of a meeting with the new owners and Chief Executive Geoffrey Richmond and have agreed to work together with the Club to develop a regular communications framework in order to ensure a two-way flow of information between the Club and its supporters. Discussion also took place on holding a “fans forum” with the new owners and it was agreed that supporters organisations will have a role to play in organising this event. In addition, positive discussions took place around the possibility of a discount for Trust members in the club shop

Trust Vice-Chair Keri Usherwood says:

“This was another highly constructive meeting and there are many positive signs that progress is being made. We are pleased that the need for clarification of the current position with regard to the take-over has been recognised and taken on board. We need an end to the uncertainty so we can start to really look forward to next season”.

A further meeting between Trust representatives and Mr. McEwan was agreed and will take place within the next two weeks.
