Hindley: Price increase is understandable

Last updated : 04 July 2003 By David Hindley
The range of concessions available - with reductions for senior citizens, students, unemployed, juveniles aged 15-12, and under-12s - for matchday admission meanwhile is to be welcomed.

However, Mr. Richmond's comment that "there will not be any other further offers through the course of the season" will do nothing to attract the occaisional visitor to Meadow Lane. Whilst this decision may be welcomed by some, it seems rather short-sighted and restrictive.

The decision to scrap free entry to children aged under-12 (who will now be charged £3) is also disappointing, watering down a major incentive for families to watch football at Meadow Lane.

One addition to the ticketing structure is the introduction of a £1 discount for any ticket purchased before 5pm on the day preceding the fixture.

The Trust will be raising the issue of ticket pricing on behalf of its members, in forthcoming meetings with both Sam McEwan and the new owners. We will also be discussing what plans they have to
increase attendances and the role the Trust could play in attracting supporters to Meadow Lane.
