Moss: Yeah you're totally right. It should be a confidence boost for the side as well as the fans. But for me it just confirms everything we already knew. Notts are more than capable of keeping it tight against the very best sides in League Two. They showed that with a clean sheet against the very best attacking side. Not to take too much away from what was a "bonus" point in the hunt against survival, but there was still no goals at the other end, the end in which most people are concerned. The end at which without any action Notts will fail to stay up.
Smith: You hit the nail on the head when you say a "bonus" point because nobody expected it yet it could be so vital in the run-in. Like you say though, it could be the goalscoring column that lets us down. I have said all season that defensively we are as good as many in this division with the likes of Kevin Pilkington, Adam Tann and Mike Edwards. Now Michael Johnson has come in we are even better. But it is the strikers. Not scoring more than once in a game since way before Christmas is a disgrace. But I have a feeling for Danny Crow - once he returns, whenever that is. The sooner the better.
Moss: Yeah you will be better with Danny Crow than without him of course because it is another player who 'can' score goals, but he has still only scored one goal for the club so I fail to see where pinning your hopes on him comes from. He has had a good record elsewhere but so have a lot of players. Wait

Smith: Well we are lacking a player of that quality!!! Imagine Tevez in League Two? He would rip it up. But like you say a hero could be an unlikely source. It just needs somebody to hit the form of his life to take us to the next hurdle. Whoever that is they will be a hero for life at Meadow Lane. It is time for a hero to step forward and save Notts from the drop. Having seen a lot of League Two and Notts this season, do you think we will go down?
Moss: As pies4u said in his Barnet prediction, he had no substance for predicting a win. Nothing but blind faith. I have blind faith Notts will stay up. They have to stay up. For the sake of its great ground, for the sake of its great fans and for the sake of the Football League. I don't know how but I am confident they will stay up.
Smith: Well according to my BBC predictor that everybody seems to be doing at the moment they will. Some have commented that it is a bit biased, but I am so confident in our defence that I see plenty more opportunities for points. That, coupled with the difficult run-ins of the likes of Dagenham and Chester, will see us through. Chester most certainly are in a right mess, and although the Daggers are doing OK, their run-in is very hard. For me though, it is all about the Mansfield gamne a week on Saturday. This is arguably the biggest game in Notts' history - and a derby at that.
Moss: They are all huge at this stage of the season, and certainly so with the boat Ian McParland finds himself in. To be playing your most fierce rivals at such a stage of the season with both sides in the mire, the consequences of the result could be herculean. That said, two wins over the Easter weekend
|
Smith: Exactly, and just a quick word on Keith Hill's men. Everybody knows they have a good away record, and added to the poor home form of Notts, as my final thought at the weekend highlighted, then they are favourites would you say?
Moss: Yes definitely. Rochdale must be favourites and the Notts players must have the right mindset. They have showed they can match the big teams with their result at Posh. If they play below par of that they will come unstuck. This is a difficult game. A point against the then league leaders does not give Notts a divine right to a share of the spoils or more on Saturday.
Smith: Moving on mate, Rotherham have gone into administration and have been hit with a ten point reduction as a result. How disappointing for them, having had that same thing happen not too long ago. The fans must be sickened. We have been through it at Meadow Lane and it is gut-wrenching, but somebody has to take responsibility at Millmoor, there is surely no excuse for it happening a second time. Maybe it is time for them to be kicked out of the Football League - and it will help us no end!
Moss: I do not know enough about the first time to possibly comment. It would help Notts out but fans must not feel too sickened to want them out of
|
Smith: I know I was joking with regards to helping Notts. But they shouldn't be allowed two spells in administration. It is ridiculous. At the other end of the scale, Fabio Capello will shortly name his next England squad for the friendly with France at the end of the month The rumours are that David Beckham has a decent chance of inclusion, likewise Theo Walcott, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Tom Huddlestone. Do you think these four, for instance, of worthy of inclusion, and what do you want to see from Capello's squad.
Moss: David Beckham is a massive yes for me as are Tom Huddlestone and Gabriel Agbonlahor. Theo Walcott, not yet. If we've seen the best him I'd say no every time. He has not yet impressed me. He is quick, but so are Olympic Games athletes - Anyone for end product? I think there are only a fairly small group of players who should be in the running for selection. The most
|
Smith: In terms of the names we have talked about I'd go - Huddlestone: No, Beckham: Yes, Agbonlahor: Yes, Walcott: No. There are too many better midfielders than Huddlestone at the minute - Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves, Carrick, Jenas etc, why put in another midfielder? I agree with everything you said about Walcott. Over-hyped, that is the problem.
