NCM picks versus Milton Keynes Dons

Goalkeeper - As ever Kevin Pilkington needs to remain in the side. His experience in dealing with the best in the division will be crucial in this game - something understudy Tim Sandercome knows little about. However, more mistakes such as the one that saw the concession of the crucial penalty against Dagenham may pose more of a question for his position in the long run.

Defenders - Lee Canoville returned to good effect against the Daggers, despite NCM questioning his inclusion. Therefore he deserves another crack of the whip. And with Krystian Pearce suspended, Adam Tann must stay in the centre anyway - and he'd have been NCM's choce at right back should Pearce have been available. Next to Tann, Stephen Hunt should move back inside. His pace will be vital with Pearce absent. That leaves Austin McCann to drop back to his more natural left back position. At the moment Paul Mayo should stay from the side with McCann in good form.

Midfielders - Myles Weston played on the right against the Daggers, and impressed, but he can do just as good a job on the left - if not better. That leaves a gap on the right which has been a debateable slot all campaign. Lawrie Dudfield has filled it well recently but looked even better back up front on Saturday. Perhaps giving Andy Parkinson one more chance is an option as it will provide two natural wingers and good width for the Magpies. It has to be stressed this has to be his final chance however. In the centre Neil MacKenzie and Richard Butcher have proved they can play together now, including a superb one-two for the Notts goal on Saturday, and have to continue.

Strikers - Lawrie Dudfield remains Notts' most in-form strikers, even though the goals are still badly lacking. His oevrall play is good - now he needs someone alongside him to get the goals. Despite not doing it enough, Spencer Weir-Daley always looks a threat and the most likely regular scorer for Notts. He is miles better than out of form Jason Lee anyway.
