Barnet... In Focus

Last updated : 12 December 2006 By Gary Moss

In fairness, Paul Fairclough has a tough job at Barnet. One of the smallest sides in the football league and yet despite the fact that they are struggling, you cannot help but think they will survive.

Fairclough: Tough job
Their second year in League Two surely must be another of consolidation.

Winning five and drawing six of their twenty games, if only the Bees could turn more draws into wins, it could be all so different at Underhill.

A young side that get goals from all over the park, with Sinclair, Viera and the experienced Ian Hendon, all capable of chipping in.

One thing that is a certainty is the potential of departed striker of Tresor Kandol. Recently moving to Leeds will surely dent Barnet's capabilities. He netted thirteen times for the Bees showing what a class act he can be.

With Jason Puncheon making things happen in the midfield, Fairclough has definitely got the basis of a good side in his ranks.

If they were to pick up points more regularly at home, they may find themselves a long way from danger. Wining three, drawing three and losing four at home, they can't be surprised of their low position.

Away from home they've done the business from time to time; winning at Notts in the Johnson's Paint Trophy and at Hartlepool as well as picking up precious draws at Peterborough and Bury. It's at home where Barnet create their own downfall; draws with MK Dons and Boston, in games they should clearly have won, not to mention the 5-0 thrashing from visiting Lincoln.

Kandol...How much will his departue cost the Bees?

Manager: Paul Fairclough

League position (as of 12th December 2006): 19th
