Player Ratings - Derby County H

Starting Line-Up

Kevin Pilkington - 4 - Brought into the starting line-up despite his calamitous display on Saturday, Pilkington once again failed to cover himself in glory. Wasn't hugely tested by the visitors and could do nothing about the first, but the second goal came from an overhit cross which he could only palm into his own net.

John Thompson - 6 - Another strong and solid performance from the Magpies captain, he looked more assured in the second half when in his natural position of centre back. Strong in the tackle and at times comfortable on the ball.

Graeme Lee - 7 - Another solid game for the new signing from Bradford City, Lee once again dominated a Championship side aerially, winning almost every high ball that came into Magpies territory. Also coped well with the trickery of Steve Davies.

Mike Edwards - 6 - Didn't look as impressive or solid as he did on Saturday, Edwards struggled at times with the pace of lone forward Steven Davies. Did make one or two crucial interceptions but his distribution was as erratic as ever.

Stephen Hunt - 6 - Was solid on his return from injury and seemed to be more comfortable as the match progressed. Handled the threat of Luke Varney well but his distribution was often wayward.

Matt Hamshaw - 6 - A quiet game for the Magpies' player of the season after he missed Saturday's match with a toe injury. Whipped in one or two inviting crosses and kept possession well, only managed a half however. Will be hoping to be fully fit for the big kick off.

Neal Bishop - 6 - A solid and steady performance from Neal Bishop, but he loses a mark for the disastrous backpass that lead to Derby's opener. Otherwise he was comfortable and tidy in possession, strong in the challenge and made some intelligent runs that weren't always picked up on by his teammates.

Ricky Ravenhill - 8 - An impressive return for the combative midfielder, who missed Saturday's match due to an injury picked up at Arnold Town. Ravenhill used the ball intelligently but really impressed with an all action display and some strong challenges.

Ben Davies - 7 - Doesn't look completely at home on the left wing and impressed more when drifting inside, Davies really came to life in the final ten minutes when he orchestrated two great moves that nearly saw Notts draw level. Great on the ball and with a fearsome shot, Davies looks a good signing.

Lee Hughes - 8 - Another impressive performance from new boy Lee Hughes, the former Oldham man set up both Magpies goals and could've had even more assists. His intelligent running and movement troubled Jay McEveley all night and when in position he put some wonderful crosses on a plate for Luke Rodgers.

Luke Rodgers - 7 - It's hard to criticise a striker who has scored in every game for the club, so we won't! Rodgers should've had at least one more tonight when he failed to make a clean connection from 6 yards, but took his goal with confidence and would've had another but for McEveley's intervention. Also worked tirelessly and harried the visiting defence.

Substitutes

Russell Hoult - 6 - Looked more confident than Pilkington in the second half and claimed a couple of crosses well, but will be disappointed with his position for Kris Commons' winner.

Brendan Moloney - 6 - A solid performance by Moloney but he will be disappointed with his closing down for Commons' goal, looked good in attack and linked up well with Craig Westcarr at times.

Craig Westcarr - 6 - Once again impressed with his delivery from the right flank and put a couple of teasing balls into the Derby box, should've put Notts infront when teed up by Moloney.

Sean Canham - 5 - Struggled to get hold of the ball against Championship opposition once again and looked reluctant to run in behind and latch onto through balls, slowing Notts' play down.

Mystery Trialist - 6 - No one quite knows who he is, but he showed some neat touches in his brief cameo and threaded a couple of inviting passes in behind the defence for Canham.
