Kevin Pilkington: Back in goal for the Magpies after a small spell

on the sidelines behind Deeney. Made a crucial first half save and was brave when needed. 6

David Pipe:
A better performance from the full-back. Always works hard got wise to the threat of Kennedy with a confident second half display. 7

Mike Edwards:
A welcome return to centre-back and what a difference he made. Solid throughout and clearly most effective in the heart of the back four. His exceptional blocking and tackling was key to a Notts clean sheet. 8

Stephen Hunt:
Continues to impress. Never put a foot wrong and paired with Edwards he formed a formidable partnership. 8

Austin McCann:
Played well defensively and never severely troubled. But, going forward, his distribution must be questioned. 6

Gary Silk:
Not his best position on the right side of midfield, but done well. Got involved and had a couple of shots from long range. 6

Matt Somner:
His usual self. Put himself about well, flying in with some tough challenges. Started well but wilted towards the end when Notts really needed his midfield energy to seal the game. 6

N'Toya...Games only goal
Ian Ross: Creator of the goal from a corner and provided some danger from his first half set pieces in particular. Was neat and tidy in midfield but must do more to command a starting shirt week in week out. 6

Tcham N'Toya:
His goal settled the game. After a frustrating time at Notts he finally got his break and it was no more than he deserved. He looked lively and fitted well into Thommo's three up front tactics. 7

Jason Lee:
It is no surprise that his return to the side started with a win. Not his most powerful game but played his part well. He's settled back in now; expect more goals from now until the end of the season. Another booking in the last minute is a disappointment. 7

Lawrie Dudfield:
The weakest of the Magpies strikers but not a

bad game by any stretch of the imagination. Again tried hard to find space and open things up but never really a big danger. 6

NCM'S Man of the Match: Mike Edwards... An excellent return to centre-half
