Notts and Lincoln match ratings

Last updated : 03 February 2007 By Paul Smith

Notts.

Kevin Pilkington. A fantastic double save from Kerr's penalty and Pilkington was calm throughout. One of his best games for a while, though he was rarely troubled. Helpless for the Lincoln goal. 7

Gary Silk. Without a doubt his best performance in a Notts shirt. The right back, signed on a free from Portsmouth in the summer, showed excellent spirit and determination, and set up Dudfield's goal superbly. 9

Hunt... Settling in with Edwards
Mike Edwards.
Rarely in the action, which is a good sign from a Notts point of view. Edwards dealt with former team mate Stallard fairly well. 7

Stephen Hunt. Showing signs of making a good partnership with Edwards, the youngster showed no nerves, and with a relatively easy afternoon he didn't do anything wrong. 7

Austin McCann. Solid, McCann was reliable, and Notts look far more balanced with him in the side. 6

David Pipe. Notts were delighted to see him back in the side after suspension, particularly with the news that the club had turned down a six figure sum for him during the transfer window. He performed well, brave, determined and with another great assist to his name. 7

Matt Somner. Toiled hard in the middle though he had his work cut out with the effective Frecklington. He got to grips with the task, and battled away well. Didn't concede possession easily. 7

Jay Smith. Superb early goal set the tone for another fine display. He controlled the midfield, and released the wide men on several occasions to create Notts chances. 8

Parkinson... In fine form

Andy Parkinson. He has been criticised in this feature several times this season, but at the moment ‘Parky' cannot be faulted. Full of heart, he took on his opposite number well, and forced a lot of excitement for the Notts fans. 8

Jason Lee. Scored another header, and moves onto 14 for the season, so much for needing a prolific marksman. Lee gave the Lincoln defence a torrid time, and looks the signing of the season. 8

Lawrie Dudfield. Quieter than usual, Dudfield still found the net and worked hard throughout. Could have had a penalty and a second goal late on. 7

Subs:

Junior Mendes (for Lee, 84). Little time to impact.

Alan White (for Pipe, 90). No time to impact.

Lincoln.

Marriot... Frustrating afternoon
Alan Marriot.
Such was the Notts finishing for the first two goals, Marriot cannot be faulted. He can for the third, badly out of position when the ball fizzed across his goal. Frustrated by the petty Rennie. 6

Lee Beevers. Lively throughout, he was determined to win the game. Worked hard, clearly fighting for his place after the arrival of Eaden. Tussled hard with Parkinson, and came off reasonably well. 7

Paul Mayo. Could only stand by as Pipe dominated the right hand side. Mayo didn't do anything wrong, but was hardly involved and replaced at half-time as Lincoln pushed for goals. 5

Adie Moses. Couldn't deal with the skilful Dudfield, Moses resorted to fouling on many occasions, and the Captain failed to rally his troops when they needed him most. Never looked like adding to his goal against Notts at Sincil Bank. 5

Nat Brown. Battled away, but didn't beat Lee in the air, and failed to get to grips with him. Will have nightmares of the Notts man, as he left the pitch all patched up. Won the Imps a penalty. 6

Ryan Amoo. More like Ryan who? Amoo was anonymous all game, and failed to contribute anything significant. He looked jaded and lightweight. 4

Kerr... Penalty miss

Lee Frecklington. A fantastic first half showing by the man most sought after in Imps colours. The youngster battled his way through the Notts defence and was unlucky to leave the pitch down at half-time. Tired after the break. 8

Scott Kerr. Miserable day for the midfielder who missed a late penalty, consistently gave the ball away and took an early knock from Notts' skipper Lee. He called for the squad to look for the Championship, but he is now only seeing stars. 5

Jeff Hughes. A fair performance from the wide man, Hughes hit the post and the side netting either side of the break, and with a little more luck would have gave Lincoln something more to shout about. 7

Mark Stallard. Determined to score against the Magpies, the returning former hero tried hard, but missed three decent chances, one when clear through. Will have regrets over his day, but not through lack of effort. 6

Jamie Forrester. He promised much but foolishly saw red before half-time for kicking out at McCann. That may have cost any Imps hopes. 5

Subs:

Silk... Man of the Match
Dany N'Guessan (for Mayo, 45).
Hustled his way around the box, but with little impact, N'Guessan failed to cut the mustard. 5

Nicky Eaden (for Forrester, 73). Slotted in to right-back to allow Brown to bomb forward, had little to do with the action. 6

Spencer Weir-Daley (for Stallard, 78). Had he came on at the break he may have had more of an effect. Looked lively, and scored. 7

Drapes' Man of the Match: Gary Silk
