Match Ratings versus Stockport County

Last updated : 28 September 2006 By Paul Smith

Kevin Pilkington. Goalkeepers are judged on their clean sheets, and that says a lot about Pilkington's performance yesterday. One fantastic early save to deny a one-on-one opportunity, but his kicking must improve. 7

Dan Gleeson. His forte seems to be his long runs into opposing boxes, another followed Saturday's effort last night. This time he shot agonizingly wide! He defended well again, but needs to improve his distribution. 7

Alan White. Efficient performance. One error let Stockport in early on, but Pilkington saved him from another tongue lashing. After that his tackling was spot on, as was his dribbling, which was followed by a thunderous effort on goal! 7

Mike Edwards. Another top performance from ‘Steady Eddie'. Marshalled the defence well, and never allowed the in-form Adam Le Fondre any opportunity. 8

Austin McCann. As reliable as ever. The ever-present former Hearts man worked hard, and linked up well with Parkinson down the left to create openings for Notts. Wasn't found wanting defensively neither. 7

David Pipe. Better than on Saturday, Pipe was more energetic and got into the box on a few occasions, before missing his chances. Worked as hard as ever, and created the only goal of the game with a good burst and fortunate pass. 7

Ian Ross. Wasn't always involved, but produced a few clever moments, and his set-pieces caused a few problems. Seemed to enjoy himself, but needs to impose his game on the proceedings a little bit more. 7

Matt Somner. Very busy game, broke the play up well and kept things nice and simple. Won a lot of the balls in the air… and there was a few… and won many 50-50s. 8

Parkinson... Disapointing again

Andy Parkinson. ‘Parky' just isn't himself this season. He looked short on confidence, and the visiting full-back dealt with most of the runs Parkinson went on. Worked hard as usual though. 5

Junior Mendes. Lively throughout, and capped it with a wonderful finish for the games only goal. However, he flitted in and out a bit, and was a tad lazy in the final third when balls across the box were there to be attacked. 7

Jason Lee. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Won most of his headers and held the play up well. His booking means he will be sorely missed at Mansfield. 7

Substitutes.

Tcham N'Toya. (for Junior Mendes) Didn't get too involved, but showed his commitment when closing down the goalkeeper and nearly forcing a goal. 6

Lawrie Dudfield (for Jason Lee) Showed his commitment by chasing lost causes, but had little time to make an impact. 6

Stephen Hunt (for Ian Ross) Kept his composure to see out another clean sheet. 6

Drapes' Man of the Match: Matt Somner.
