Match ratings v Shrewsbury... Including Gary Silk...4

Kevin Pilkington. Had a very quiet afternoon with little to do - at least in the way of shots at goal. Commanded his area fairly comfortable and of course, was never expected to save the spot kick. 6

Gary Silk.
The second successive bad afternoon for the right back. Struggled throughout and looks nervy everytime the ball is near him. Short of a spark, Silk needs to be taken out of the firing line because every time
Pearce... Star man again
the ball was down his side he struggled. One very good challenge however shortly after Notts took the lead denied a good Shrews break. 4

Krystian Pearce.
STAR MAN. For the second successive game the Birmingham City loanee dazzled. He was simply sensational for a lad of just 17. Make no mistake he is class. Won everythin that came his way and brought the ball out of the back with ease. Also scored his first professional goal at the second attempt illustrating his determination. 9

Adam Tann.
Another top showing from the captain who thoroughly deserves to keep the armband over Jason Lee and Stephen Hunt who have held it earlier in the season. Unlucky to concede a penalty, but worked hard. 7

Stephen Hunt.
One of his best performances of what has been a surprisingly average season from one of Notts' best players
Butcher... Ever-improving
last year. That it came at left back is a welcome boost for the Magpies. Won all his headers and even got forward well. Was particulalry important at the end heading away three corners in succession. 8

Lawrie Dudfield.
Another good showing on the right of midfield from the striker. The visitors couldn't handle his dribbling in the first period, and as ever he worked very hard. Not as effective after the break, but won some headers up top when moved back there. 7

Richard Butcher.
Fine performance from the former Peterborough man. Won a lot of challeneges and looked to get forward at every oppurtunity. Hardly gave the ball away. Much better in the centre. 7

Matt Somner.
Looked poor again and chased a lot of shadows. Again his commitment can never be faulted nor can his enthusiasm but the time has come for a return to the good form he showed around the time of Steve Thompson's sacking. Out of position at times. 5

Austin McCann.
Great work rate from the Scot who seemed delighted with the win, punching the air. Honest and tenacious, McCann made several crucial blocks on the edge of his area and looks up for the fight. 7

Spencer Weir-Daley.
The frontman desperately needs a goal. Looks short
Lee... "Abysmal"
on confidence around the penalty area despite buzzing about brightly. Keen as mustard and generally a threat - just not in front of goal. 6

Jason Lee.
Abysmal. Did absolutely nothing right up top - not even win his obligatory headers. His shooting was wld at best and his hold up play non-existent. One good headed clearance prevented danger, but should be dropped. 3

Subs

Neil MacKenzie (for Somner, 56). Notts' hero once more with a tunning free-kick late on. Effective as soon as he came on. 7

Andy Parkinson (for Lee, 61).
Contributed little. 5

Lee Canoville (for Tann, 90).
Added numbers when holding lead. 6
