Match ratings v Rotherham... Including Lee Canoville... 3

Kevin Pilkington. Given Man of the Match in most quarters but NCM find it
Pilkington... Closest to star man award
difficult to pick any player given the disgraceful overall performance. Besides, although Pilkington made two excellent stops, his kicking was abysmal, as was his commanding of the area - particularly the first half. He does deserve a slighty higher mark owing to him being the busiest player on the pitch, but no STAR MAN will be given. 7

Lee Canoville. Must be up there as one of the poorest signings made by Steve Thompson - despite being billed as one of the most accomplished defenders at this level. Lost posession time and again and looked clueless with the ball at his feet. Defensively lost. 3

Krystian Pearce.
One of the only players to retain credit from the game. He is still short of his 18th birthday yet he was one of the players to stand up. The on-loan man took the fight to Rotherham, sometimes overplaying as a result, but still showed the right battling qualities. Not his most composed game however. 6

Adam Tann.
As captain he needs to inspire more. That said, he seemed to be the only communicator on the pitch in a side that badly lacks leadership. Fought hard but must do more than that to get his team going. Defended OK. 6

Stephen Hunt.
A fair game at left-back for Hunt who stood his ground and won a lot of balls. However, his distribution is very poor and he seems to look for the direct ball every time. 6

Silk... Not good enough
Andy Parkinson.
Awarded another chance but again did not take it. This has to be his last start now. His abilities have waned dramatically since his superb first spell at the club and he looks like losing the ball every time he touches it. Every run he made was stopped, every pass he made was to a Miller. 3

Gary Silk.
Drop him, and quick. He is not good enough. He can only pass sideways, doesn't cover enough ground or win enough tackles for the holding position he is supposed to have, and contributes nothing. How is he favoured to player of the season so far Neil MacKenzie? 3

Richard Butcher.
Another who at least tried to get going. Butcher has had a very good season, and cannot be criticised despite himself being slightly below par. That said he worked hard, and provided a couple of good moments including a good skill and shot early in the second period. 6

Myles Weston.
Not a great game for the winger who has been impressive recently. However, the decision to replace him at the break was a strange one considering he remained Notts' best outlet despite a poor first half. One great run and cross created Notts' closest effort as Dudfield brought a superb save. 6

Lawrie Dudfield.
Again worked extremely hard and won his fair share of flick-ons in a fairly direct game from the Magpies. A great header forced a stunning save at 0-0 and he also worked the channels well, creating a couple of decent openings. Should have played 90 minutes. 6
Weir-Daley... Desereved substitution

Spencer Weir-Daley.
In the away game at Rotherham, SWD was superb, scoring his first for the club and giving the Millers a real runaround. Today he was poor, and rightly replaced at the break. He couldn't work any openings and didn't ruffle any feathers. 5

Subs.

Jason Lee (for SWD, half-time).
Gave the ball away everytime he touched it. As bad this season as he was good last. Might be time to hang up the boots. 3

Austin McCann (for Weston, half-time).
Added a bit of fight and one great corner caused a brief panic in the Millers penalty area. But a left-back as a winger isn't the way forward. 6

Hector Sam (for Dudfield, 75).
Spurned a great chance for an undeserved equaliser firing over from a decent opening. 5
