Match ratings v Peterborough… Including Austin McCann… 7

Last updated : 05 December 2007 By Paul Smith

Kevin Pilkington. The Sponsors' Man of the Match produced a fine display against a powerful Posh attack. Could do little about the decisive goal and made two or three superb stops, particularly at the start of the second half. 8

Gary Silk. A poor night for the versatile youngster who has now performed in three different positions in the last three games. Was given the complete run-around by the impressive George Boyd and made countless errors.

Pearce... England youngster was immense
Looked nervy throughout and will want to forget this performance quickly. 4

Krystian Pearce. STAR MAN. Absolutely immense in the first half, Pearce looked every inch the Premiership player. His pace and strength saved Notts from conceding twice as he made two superb goal saving tackles. Always looked to play from the back and his power is frightening for a lad his age. Not as impressive in the second, but overall a huge effort and he deserves to keep his place in the side for Saturday's visit of Shrewsbury. Charlie McParland must do all he can to retain this players services beyond his initial month. 8

Adam Tann. Started nervously and picked up a rash early booking, although Silks headed pass left him with little choice. Grew as the game wore on and worked hard for the side. Won his personal battle with Aaron McLean, and can be happy with his own performance. 7

Stephen Hunt. Back to playing left-back, a position he arrived at the club as. Didn't look hugely comfortable at all times, particularly when going forward, but defended well enough. Still looks for the direct pass far too often. 6

Lawrie Dudfield. The striker played on the right wing and did himself justice, particularly in the opening half - alike with most of the Notts men.

Butcher... Good display
Ran himself into the ground and produced two or three moments of quality that resulted in chances - particularly the follow-up cross that should have saw Jason Lee head home. 7

Richard Butcher. Notts' star man in the opening half as he broke up play and passed the ball intelligently on the whole. One superb instance of that saw Lee race clear one-on-one only to miss. His influence waned in the second period, but this was a showing that illustrated he is at his best in the middle. 7

Matt Somner. A fairly anonymous showing, but no lack of effort from Notts' midfield battler. Did little in possession, and the game sometimes bypassed him, but an improvement from Saturday without a doubt. 6

Austin McCann. Another player asked to do a role on the wing that he isn't familiar with. The natural full-back did a solid job on the wing and battled like was expected given he had been out of the last few squads. Worked tirelessly and created a couple of openings through sheer determination. 7

Jason Lee. Back in the starting line-up, Lee did what he is best at - winning headers - but most went to a Posh player rather than a team-mate. Missed Notts' chance of the game when clean through one-on-one. Tried to take it past the keeper when a simple finish was required. His experience should no better. 5

Spencer Weir-Daley. Buzzed about interestedly but lacked the creative spark Notts needed from him. A lot of pre-season hope was pinned on the front man but he is yet to live up to his billing. Didn't get a clear strike on goal, but needs an extended run in the side to get his confidence up. 6

Subs

Neil Mackenzie (for Somner, 72). Had a couple of opportunities from set-

Frost... Rare outing
pieces where he should have done better, but had little time to change the game. Should have been introduced earlier. 6

Hector Sam (for Weir-Daley, 72). Appeared to get away with a red card offence as he sent Charlie Lee to the floor in retaliation after being hauled down when seemingly through. Battled hard and felt he should have had a penalty. 6

Stef Frost (for Dudfield, 83). Good to see the youngster given a chance, even if he had little time to impact. He made a couple of battling runs and hit a couple of crosses, but hard to judge. 6
