Match Ratings V MK Dons

Last updated : 25 February 2007 By Paul Smith

Pipe... Organised well
Saul Deeney.
Not at fault for either goal, Deeney actually had little to do. His kicking remains something of a joke, but he claimed well in his penalty area and produced a point winning save to deny Wilbraham in the last minute. 7

David Pipe. Wasn't at his energetic best, but defended solidly against a lively attacking MK Dons side. Organised the back four well. 6

Austin McCann. Better, but still not hitting his early season heights. Wasn't overran by Jon-Paul McGovern, but his decision making on the ball wasn't the best. Performed with a good deal of determination. 7

Alan White. Would be harsh to jump on the bandwagon of those who called for the referee to send him off. He hasn't showed great form, but wasn't too bad today. Was heavily involved in Notts' equaliser, and headed well throughout. 6

Stephen Hunt. Superb once again. Dealt admirably with both Platt - in the air - and McLeod - on the floor - and also grabbed the decisive goal. He his clearly the number one defender at the club on form. 9

Edwards... Hard working

Mike Edwards. Not at his best in midfield, but Edwards ran his socks off, attempting all game to drive the side on. 7

Ian Ross. Another player out of position, employed as a right winger, Ross also worked hard, and was unlucky that he hit the post with a fantastic long range effort. His tackling was poor though, and he was often on the periphery of the game. 6

Jay Smith. Calmness personified for the penalty goal, Smith should have had a hat-trick with two further chances in the second half. Worked hard, but didn't produce his best football. 7

Andy Parkinson. Bad performance from the wide man. Pushed back by the physical MK Dons defence, Parkinson's mistake led to their first goal, and he failed to create a single opening in the final third. 5

Jason Lee. Not his best game, but he remained a big threat all game, and headed down for Hunt to equalise. Also won the penalty, highlighting how sorely he will be missed now he is suspended for three games. Undeservedly shown another caution. 7

Hunt...Man of the Match
Junior Mendes.
Blew hot and cold. Twice hit the woodwork with great attempts, particularly the one in stoppage time, but didn't contribute on a regular basis, losing possession at times. Great cross led to the equaliser. 7

Subs:

Tcham N'Toya (for Parkinson '70). Took his time to settle, but when he did he exerted some pace. One good run created Ross' seemingly goal bound effort. 6

Gary Silk (for Pipe '92). No time to impact.

Drapes' Man of the Match: Stephen Hunt
