Match ratings v Lincoln City... Including Paul Mayo... 3

Average - 6

Russell Hoult. Hardly had anything to do but Lincoln's goal may have been preventable as his positional sense was fairly poor. Not much else to say considering he didn't have a stop to make otherwise. 5
Hoult... Hardly anything to do

Adam Tann.
Is he meant to be the captain? Where is the leadership qualities? He is a determined customer who puts his foot in but he doesn't rally the troops. That is what is needed. Found it easier than expected against Louis Dodds who was kept quiet. 6

Mike Edwards.
If only the Edwards of last season could return. Sure he didn't make any mistakes but he looks so much more uncomfortable and nervy on the ball. A far cry from last season. If he was put under more pressure it could have been worse. 6

Michael Johnson.
Doesn't make any mistakes and is sharp across the backline. Again, he wasn't overworked and will face tougher tests. Did what was expected therefore. 6

Paul Mayo.
Disastrous header across his own goal gifted City their winner. An awful error at the worse possible time, and it cost Notts a point. Gives the ball away too often with aimless punts up the field. Talk is cheap Mayo. 3

Ali Gibb.
Was he actually on the pitch? And what about his so-called
Gibb... Anonymous
excellent crossing? Looks like that one for Danny Crow at Chester was a fluke. Anonymous, but when invlolved his crossing was abysmal. 5

Richard Butcher.
Worked hard and tried to make things happen with little joy. Was closely tagged by Scott Kerr and was never allowed space. At least one side did their homework then. Couldn't be faulted for effort, but wasn't involved enough. Decent set-pieces. 6

Jay Smith.
Very poor, another who isn't living up to his potential. Looked nothing like the player that lit up this fixture last season, and gave the ball away with aimless punts. Looks like he isn't enjoying his football, and that is being reflected in his efforts. 5

Austin McCann.
What came over Ian McParland to play wantaway left back McCann on the wing? Terrible decision backfired with McCann poor all night. Guilty of ball-watching and showed nothing going forward. 4

Ryan Jarvis.
STAR MAN. The only player who looked like getting Notts something with his cleverness and ability to work the Imps defence hard. Came close in the first half producing a double save out of Alan Marriott, but
Jarvis... Best of a bad bunch
faded as the game went on. Seems disilussioned with the incompetence of others around him.
7

Spencer Weir-Daley.
Given a rare start, and against former employers, Weir-Daley should have produced his best performance, but his eagerness wasn't matched in a display that saw him fluff a couple of decent openings. Toiled well but that isn't good enough for a striker brought in to score Notts' goals. 6

Subs

Andy Parkinson (for Gibb, 59).
Looked like he was up for getting involved, and put one telling ball in that Weir-Daley failed to connect with. Still lacks quality though. 6

Jason Lee (for McCann, 76). Was he really on the pitch? n/a
