Russell Hoult. Will be delighted to bounce back from a midweek horror show with another Meadow Lane clean sheet. Was largely untroubled, and was only really called into action to claim crosses in the box which he did with ease. Won't have many easier afternoons with all Stanley's efforts off target.
Canoville... Very impressive
6

Lee Canoville.
A very good display, full of commitment, pace and a willingness that is refreshing to see in such a nervy occassion. This was one of Canoville's best displays for the club. A rip roaring run and fine delivery late on should have been latched on to by the strikers. Put in plenty of challenges. 8

Mike Edwards.
Steady again after a poor showing at Rochdale. Edwards dealt admirably with the physical Paul Mullin, and won that particular battle comfortably. Caused a bit of panic in the other box from corners too, and was calm throughout. 7

Michael Johnson.
Not one of his best games for the club, but still a comfortable seven out of ten. That shows his quality, as he too put behind a poor showing at Dale with an untroubled showing. The only time he looked uncomfortable was with his boot laces! Made two excellent tackles on the edge of the box late on, one straight after another, to typify his commitment. 7

Stephen Hunt.
Slightly nervy at times, but kept his head well enough. As a more natural centre back, Hunt lacks a bit of composure on the ball in forward positions but he mucked in well, and played his part in the clean sheet. 6

Ryan Jarvis.
STAR MAN. Looks better on the wing than he did up front, and scored to boot! The Norwich loanee was outstanding in the first half, full of energy and willing, and with the odd touch of class. A brave, but quite brilliant
Butcher... Worked hard
piece of skill in the right bnack position saw him get away from danger and combine well with Crow. And it was this ability that saw him have plenty of joy out wide. Popped up with the crucial goal with a good finish and kept working even though he tired in the second half.

Richard Butcher.
That is more like it. NCM have called for his return to the centre, and while he was quiet there at Dale, he was back to his old self against Stanley. Not as prominent as he should be in the final third, but he mucked in very well. Won plenty of challenges in the centre, and the win clearly meant a lot to him as he punched the air in delight at the end. 7

Neil MacKenzie.
Worked hard and even put in some good tackles himself, something he isn't particularly noted for. Deserves a lot of credit for looking for the killer pass, which didn't always work, but he made two or three great passes, and linked play effectively. Conceded possession needlessly a couple of times however, but working his way back in. 7

Myles Weston.
What a start! The wideman started like a man whose life depended on a super show. For the first 20 minutes he was unplayable, and the Stanley full-back must have been having nightmares as Weston sped past him three or four times. But his influence waned, and he was clearly tired by the time he went off. Did have one more excellent run however, halted by a crude lunge when he looked certain to race through on goal. 7

Danny Crow.
Strangely subdued, Crow didn't get the opportunities he would have liked in front of goal, and to be honest rarely involved himself at all. Not one to remember for the Posh loanee, who was harshly booked. 5
Dudfield... Fine cameo

Jason Lee.
Put himself about very well, and disrupted the Stanley backline effectively with his aerial work. Was consistently fouled to little protection, but Lee kept battling away well. Glanced an header just wide, and also went close with a first half pot shot. 7

Subs

Lawrie Dudfield (for Crow, 63).
A welcome return for the frontman who looked in good form when he came on. His first touch saw him beat a couple of men before firing at the 'keeper, and he darted to the by-line on a couple of occassions to create danger. 7

Wayne Corden (for Weston, 78).
Not involved as Notts saw the game out. 5
