Wycombe pen pics... part one

Last updated : 22 April 2008 By Paul Smith
Frank Fielding
Position:
Goalkeeper
Age: 20
Previous clubs: On loan from Blackburn
Appearances (this season): 35
Profile: Fielding is earning rave reviews at Adams Park following his arrival in the Summer on a season long loan. Kept former Scotland international Rab Douglas out of the side and became a fans favourite with penalty stops against Wrexham and Darlington. Capped by England at under-19 level.

Mike Williamson

Position: Centre-back
Age: 24
Previous clubs: Torquay United, Prescott Cables
Appearances: 11
Profile: He has endured an injury-ravaged season but has returned to the squad recently to add more depth ahead of the play-off run in. A tall and commanding stopper, Williamson takes no prisoners and will be one of the Chairboys' fittest squad members after missing much of the campaign.

Leon Johnson
Position:
Centre-back
Age: 26
Previous clubs: Southend, Gillingham
Appearances: 46
Profile: A virtual ever-present this term, Johnson has been key to Wanderers' play-off hopes, with him the mainstay of a solid backline. Difficult to beat for pace, and even more so in the air, Notts' strikers will be in for a tough test against this man.

Sam Stockley
Position:
Full-back
Age: 30
Previous clubs: Blackpool, Colchester, Southampton, Oxford, Barnet
Appearances: 22
Profile: Experienced, battle-hardened and charismatic player who spent most of his career at Colchester and played his part in there meteoric rise. Will never shirk a physical battle and is one of the more well liked players at the club owing to his amusing column in the matchday programme. Has been in and out of the side, but could start on Saturday now there place in the play-offs is secured.

David McCracken
Position:
Centre-back
Age: 26
Previous clubs: Dundee United
Appearances: 37
Goals: 1
Profile: The club captain is widely recognised as one of the toughest lower league defenders, and his form this season has been essential to Paul Lambert's mens climb. An extremely athletic player, McCracken dominates in the air and is another who likes a physical battle.

Craig Woodman
Position:
Left-back
Age: 25
Previous clubs: Mansfield Town, Bristol City, Torquay United
Appearances: 29
Profile: Notts fans may remember Woodman for his part in Mansfield's 3-1 win over Notts at Field Mill in the 2004/05 season. Woodman scored Stags' second, a looping hit from outside of the area, in a game which Town dominated. Has endured a successful season at Wycombe.

Gary Holt
Position:
Defensive midfield
Age: 34
Previous clubs: Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Kilmarnock, Rochdale, Blackpool
Appearances: 43
Goals: 2
Profile: Notts fans may remember his short spell across the River Trent at Nottingham Forest. That wasn't quite as successful as his time so far at Adams Park. Described as "a carthorse" by some Forest fans, Holt has been integral to Wycombe, breaking up the play and allowing the creative talents of Torres, Oakes and Doherty to pull the strings.

Stefan Oakes
Position:
Centre-midfield
Age: 29
Previous clubs: Leicester City, Crewe, Walsall, Notts County
Appearances: 34
Goals: 4
Profile: Will need no introduction to Magpies fans following his spell at Meadow Lane. Scored five goals in the 2004/05 season, all of them unbelievable strikes including one at Yeovil voted goal of the season in the Four Four Two awards. Oakes started the season on the bench but has came to the fore since Christmas and is in stunning form.

Chris Palmer
Position:
Left-back, left-wing
Age: 24
Previous clubs: Hereford United, Derby County, Notts County, Darlington
Appearances: 3
Profile: Another former Notts man who was inconsistent during his stay in Nottingham. Hasn't played frequently this term but was in Lamberts last squad. Has the capacity to spring a good shot or cross and may play.
