Season highlight: Finally getting deserved recognition and taking the place

White... made way for Hunt
of Alan White as a regular starter with Notts.

The second half of the season was so good that, despite a bit part role in the early stages of the campaign he was a strong candidate for 'Supporters Player of the Season'.

Season lowlight: Getting dismissed for two bookable offences at Hartlepool in Notts' penultimate away game of the season.

Hunt produced two needless fouls within a minute that should have been avoided.

It became a black mark on what had been a marvellous 2007.

Best game: There are several to choose from for Hunt's brilliant defensive displays.

Heading, blocking, tackling, passing from defence and getting back to clear danger - all attributes regularly employed by Hunt in dominant displays in the latter stages of the campaign.

However, when Hunt popped up for his first - and as yet only - goal for the Magpies in the home 2-2 draw with MK Dons, it added another notch to his belt.

That means NCM believe Hunts best performance came here - particularly as his goal was a last minute equaliser.

The Mad verdict: A fantastic debut season by the former Southampton trainee. It sure looks like Notts have a stalwart of the future, who is destined to play at a higher level - hopefully with Notts.

Hunt shows his determination, beating off Mansfields Martin Gritton
Perhaps the best thing previous manager Gudjon Thordarson did for the club. Thordarson signed Hunt just prior to his departure from Meadow Lane, but the transfer wasn't announced until Steve Thompson had taken over.

To think Thompson tried to ship him out to Lincoln City straight away shows how much Hunt must have progressed.

After a starring role in the great Carling Cup run, calls were starting to be made by fans to include him from the start in league action.

They finally got their wish at the turn of the year and Hunt never disappointed - other than his red card at Hartlepool it is hard to remember a single thing Hunt did wrong.

At just 22 the tall and uncompromising centre-half has years left in the game. If he is this good now, there is no telling how good he will become.

Sure to be a regular next term, which, alongside Mike Edwards, has the Notts defence halfway there to be the best in the league.
