Season of turmoil for Junior

Season Highlight:
There have been very few season highlights for Thommo's troubled squad member.

The 30-year-old has had very little impact this year at Notts and is a player who wants out of Meadow Lane.

He did hit the winner against Wycombe early in the campaign to claim County their first win of the season though.

Season Lowlight:
Mendes has been involved in a war of words with boss Thompson which resulted in a loan move to Lincoln City.

The striker was slammed for his apparent lack of commitment and hit back with a scathing attack on his boss whilst with the Imps making it clear he did not want to work under his management.

A move to Sincil Bank looked his best chance to prove Thommo wrong but he never hit form there either, leaving Schofield far from eager to extend his services.

Best Game:
Wycombe home (league) In his first full 90 minutes for the club, Mendes put in his best display claiming the games only goal. He could feel disappointing not to have notched up a hat-trick after a fine individual performance.

Mendes...No end product
He showed all the necessary qualities of a successful front man and looked certain to be a hit with the Notts fans, but things just got worse from that game on.

The Mad View:
Most County fans will agree that Junior is a waste of the wage budget and should be axed from the squad.

He clearly has no desire to stay on yet a lack of other options mean he could be forced to see out his contract at Meadow Lane.

Other fans may be of the opinion that while he is on the books, he may as well be put to use. Mendes is hardly renowned for his goals and some are in favour of giving him a run on the right flank.

You cannot deny his talent, he can be a quick and tricky player but more often than not he has no end product. He blows hot and cold far too much.

Into his thirties, he needs to show much more than just potential.

Thompson has already said he cannot bring anyone in until Mendes departs and although he seems keen on a permanent move to Sincil Bank, it is not a feeling shared with the Imps chief.

Buying out Mendes' contract would cost too much and it seems a case of Notts being lumbered with the front man.

Can you blame Thompson for this blunder or Mendes himself? In truth, it is probably six of one and half a dozen of the other. Mendes has hardly produced sparkling form during his time at Notts. Likewise Thommo's season has been far from faultless and some choice words in the press have not helped an already bad situation.

Only time will determine the striker's future but for now he is a Notts player and if he remains, he will need to make huge improvements to win over the County faithful.

A season plagued with problems both on and off the field: 4/10
