Season highlight: Being named 'Supporters' Player of the Season'. It was

Edwards appreciated by the fans
fully justified after a season of great consistency by the former Hull City man. Hardly putting a foot wrong, Edwards was a chief reason for Notts' great spells of defensive brilliance - one at the start and one at the end of the campaign. He beat top scorer Jason Lee and last years winner David Pipe into first place.

Season lowlight: Gifting Macclesfield their win at Meadow Lane slap in the middle of Notts' poor run of form which knocked them out of the playoff positions where they never returned. Edwards had arguably his worst game of the season that day and was at fault as Paul Ince's men shocked Meadow Lane. Either that or being placed in midfield despite his defensive brilliance.

Best game: Too many to choose from considering his fine season. NCM have regularly chosen Edwards as their Man of the Match in the match ratings, and no one game stands out. However, if pushed NCM would look no further than when Edwards helped shackle Championship star Grzegorz Rasiak in Notts' 2-0 Carling Cup win over Southampton. Edwards also bagged the opening goal on a great night for the Magpies and his performance against the dangerous Poland international was utterly dominant.

Rasiak...thwarted by Notts man
The Mad verdict:
Edwards has had a superb season with several sterling displays. While he hasn't hit the net as often as last time, his defensive contributions have improved greatly and with 50 appearances to his name he was Steve Thompson's most used player this campaign.

Without him Notts would have lost many more points than they have and he is arguably one of League Two's best defenders.

The only thing he lacks is pace, and he could quite easily figure at a higher level. Notts will be hoping no club comes calling but if any scout is worth his salt Edwards should be a wanted man.
