Oppositions View - Shrewsbury Town

How do you assess your sides recent form?

Up and down really. They were better on saturday against Macclesfield
Peters...Still has the fans backing
beating them 2-0. It was arguably the best they've played this season but before that they'd only won two games in a dozen and had been flattering to deceive so Saturday was a step in the right direction. They were in the wrong half of the league in the first half of the year last season and then they had a great 14 game unbeaten run. Gary Peters has always maintained that it is a young squad and they will get better as the season unfolds. He firmly believes that it will happen again. Peters isn't under any pressure yet. His fans recognise that he has done a good job during his three years in charge. He has re-shaped the club, he took them to Wembley last season against all the odds so the majority are happy. You always get a few grumbles when results aren't too clever but the majority of them recognise he's doing a decent job and he has signed some good players.

Who is your danger man?

They've got Ben Davies back from injury which is a big boost. He has missed six months after picking up an injury in the play-off semi-final against MK Dons, but he started on Saturday and is a key man. He gets the team playing in midfield. He is primarily a central midfielder
Davies...Talisman back in action
and can play wide.

Who else should we look out for?

Dave Hibbert. He is the seven goal top scorer. He is a decent target man and has a great touch. He is really hungary to do well because he hasn't played a lot of first team football in his career. He's scored seven times and has quickly become a fans' favourite.

What do you make of the recent goings on at Meadow Lane?

They've lost four in a row. All that's gone on this season - it's sad. They are one of the bigger clubs in this division and I always like going to Notts County. It's a great stadium and they should be doing much better than they are. They've got a decent fan base and good potential - they've under-achieved for a long time. I think the majority of people would like to see them do a bit better than they have done. Whether they can remains to be seen.

How fo you rate Notts boss Charlie McParland?

I remember he played for Notts County in the 1980's when they were in the old second division. He was a decent goal scorer. I haven't really kept too many tabs on him since then though. He was at Forest for a short time. It's nice when the manager has an affinity with the club. It usually makes for a bit more passion and they can relate to the fans a bit more.

Who do you see as Notts' danger man?

Jason Lee has just come back from injury. He has scored against Shrewsbury
Lee...Returning threat
a couple of times in the past. He is always a handful so I suppose it would have to be him.

Where do you think you will finish this season?

I think the play-offs are still a realistic target. They've got a bit of work to do but there is the nucleus of good players to do well. I think the play-offs are still an attainable target. I think it would be disappointing not to get in the the top seven after doing so well last season. If we failed to do so, it would be a step in the wrong direction.

Where do you think Notts will be come May?

I'd say mid-table. And maybe play-offs next season when the new manager has pre-season under his belt.

What sort of encounter are you expecting on Saturady?

Scrappy (he laughs). It is not going to be a classic. A typical League Two game. Probably a low scoring affair.

Prediction?

1-1
