Oppositions View - Rotherham United

Last updated : 28 December 2007 By Gary Moss
How do you assess your sides recent form? How have you been playing?

D: Seven wins out of eight represents a pretty decent run I would suggsst I'm more than pleased. Sitting three points off second place going into the weekend's game is great after a bit of a shaky start whilst so many new lads gelled and we found our feet in this division. The home form has been good which we need to build on as a platform to kick on after Christmas, away from home we seem to be squeezing teams out with solid defensive displays and hitting them on the break - although should be killing teams off with a few more goals but we can't grumble!
Brogan...One of many Millers threats

CL: We have been playing some good football so far this season. We have only lost three so far but recently lost at home with a huge loss of 4-2 against Rochdale. That score is behind us now and I am sure we can capatilise on that.

Who is your danger man?

D: Toughie, we haven't got a real shining light, Graham Coughlan at the back will be solid enough, Pablo Mills in midfield is a revelation, regards a goal threat - that could come from anywhere really, Derek Holmes and Chris O'Grady will be the most likely starting pair upfront.

CL: I would have to say Mark Hudson. He look's good when attacking and controls the ball well in the midfield. He make's the game move and he is a good creator.

Who else should we look out for?

D: Steve Brogan, talented young lad going forward down the left. Mark Hudson - solid compact box-to-box midfield player chipping in with the odd goal.

CL: Brogan on the left side of the midfield. He is brilliant with the ball and has a dangerous cross. He is a threat from a set-piece.
Robins...Ticking all the boxes

How are the fans reacting to what has been going on at Rotherham of late?

D: So far so good this season on the field, Mark Robins has made some astute signings coupled with a blend of homegrown youth.

CL: The manager has full backing of the board and I am sure the fans love him already. He is a rookie manager but has been at the club as a player and a Assistant Manager for quite a while - he is well equipped.

What have you made of Notts' season so far?

D: One of underachievement really and a few off the field boardroom rumblings since the summer, to be fair as you are sitting in the lower reaches so far i've not taken a great deal of notice at the squad.

CL: It doesn't look too good to be honest. Whenever I glance at the results you seem to be struggling.

Who do you see as Notts' danger man?

D: Kevin Pilkington - ex Miller, also Lawrie Dudfield, Jason Lee and Hector Sam can be threats on their day. Richard Butcher was once a target for us under Ronnie Moore too.

Weir-Daley...Controversial first Notts goal?
CL: Richard Butcher. He is your top scorer from midfield and a real danger.

What did you make of the sides previous meeting?

D: From what i remember Weir-Daley's equaliser was a bit controversial with appeals for offside, not the most memorable game though I would suggest.

CL: I think we should have won that game. Notts fought back well to their credit and scored a good equaliser. After that it was a fairly even game but we were a little poor that day.

Where do you think you will finish?

D: Heart says top three, more realisitc could be a play-off spot if we can consolidate.

CL: We are aiming for promotion and i think we will finish third our fourth. If fourth we will win the play-off final.

Where do you think Notts will finish this season?

D: Around 15th at a punt.

CL: Well things don't look too good so far this season to me. I would say somewhere mid-table. Between 11th and 14th looks about right for me.
O'Grady...Backed to score

What sort of encounter are you expecting?

D: Like most games in this division, pretty physical and hardworking - the side who get the ball down and pass it should come out on top.

CL: A good battle between the sides to be honest. Hopefully some goals and a lot of action.

Score prediction?

D: 2-1 to the Millers

CL: 2-0 Rotherham. And the scorers to be Hudson and O'Grady.
