Oppositions View - Milton Keynes Dons

Last updated : 24 December 2007 By Gary Moss

How do you assess your sides recent form? How have you been playing?

We've been going ok, we've made a good start but I don't think anybody, least of all the players and staff, is getting too carried away. There have been some standout performances so far this season and some games where

Andrews... "Leader of men"
we've had to battle it out so the team have showed both sides of their game. The start has been good but that's all it is for now. The competition doesn't really begin until March-time so there's still plenty of football to be played.

Who would you say is the main danger for Notts to watch out for? What type of player is he?

I think one of the best aspects of the team has been that goals have come from all over the park. Midfielders have come up with a lot of goals, defenders have chipped in at important times and it takes the pressure of the boys up front having to get all the goals. It's hard to single anyone out as for every Keith Andrews there's an Alan Navarro, for every Danny Swailes there's a Sean O'Hanlon. There's a foil for every player. Keith's the leading scorer so most would probably say him. A real leader of men and a tremendous footballer.

Who else should we look out for?

Lloyd Dyer can be a menace. His pace is frightening and he comes up with goals at important times.

How frustrating has it been to see Paul Ince continuously linked to

Dyer... Frightening pace
other clubs this season?

It's something that comes with the territory, when you have a young, successful, high-profile English manager that everybody knows it's attention that is inevitable. The fact that the manager has been linked with positions at higher levels shows what a fantastic job he has been doing here.

What have you made of Notts' season so far?

It's a false league position in my opinion. From the look of the squad there it's a team capable of climbing the table rapidly. Lee Canoville is a very good player and Richard Butcher's having a very good season. We all know about Jason Lee and what a handful he can be so I think if the new manager can get it to click they can be a force.

Is there anyone in particular you'll be looking out for from Notts?

From what I know, our players will approach the game in exactly the same way as they do any other. You have to in this league as every team is capable of beating you if you're not on your game.

How did you think the previous meeting went this season? Was it a
Canoville... Rated
fair result etc...

I think it was. I think County caught the Dons on a good night and 3-0 was a reasonably fair reflection. It was a stubborn defensive display from Notts in the first half but Keith scored at an important time just before the break and that made a big difference. It was a big result for us as it was the start of an eight-game winning run that took us to the top of the table.

What are the Dons aims for the rest of the season? Where do you think you will finish?

I think the aim is obvious and if the players apply themselves as they have so far we'll have a great chance of achieving that. We'll keep plodding along, see where we are in March and take it from there.

Where do you think Notts will finish this season?

It's hard to say in this division because there's so little between the teams you can go on a run and surge up the table in no time and just as easily see another team surge past you. I honestly think if they start the New Year well

Ince... Knows what it takes to be at the top
they'll be in contention for the play-offs. It will be tight between a number of teams but if you can get into the shake-up by March it's the form team that can do the damage like Bristol Rovers last season.

What sort of encounter are you expecting?

A real Christmas cracker with a bit of luck! We had a rather eventful game at Meadow Lane last season so hopefully Wednesday will be entertaining and the Dons can play to their potential.

Score prediction?

I haven't made a score prediction all season and I'm not going to start now!
