Oppositions View - Grimsby Town

How do you assess your sides recent form?

Robert Jays

Our pre-season form has been very hit and miss. At times we've played some good football but have lacked that killer instinct up front. Our last friendly against Scunthorpe was encouraging though, we outplayed them in the second half.

Who would you say is your key player?

Paul Bolland. He is the heart of the team and runs the show from central midfield. I'm always surprised you let him go.

Who else should we look out for?

Young Danny North has great potential up front and Peter Till has the ability, it is about time he proved it for us too.

What is the first thing you think of when you think of Notts County?

Meadow Lane. Great old stadium with plenty of very good and very bad memories for Town.

Parkinson... Former Mariner to haunt old side?
Who do you see as the Notts danger men?

Jason Lee always causes problems and I've heard good things about (Spencer) Weir-Daley. They could make a potent strike force. Old Town players always come back to haunt us, so Parky (Andy Parkinson) will probably score on Saturday.

How do you rate Notts boss Steve Thompson?

Thompson seems to be fairly handy in the transfer market, always bringing in decent players. I'm not sure about him as a tactician, I think County should have pushed on more than they did last season.

Where do you think you will finish this season?

It depends if we can get our hands on a goalscorer who can provide the goals our link up play deserves. If we find one we should make the play offs, if not a safe mid table place is more realistic.

Where do you think Notts will finish this season?

I think Notts will be there or thereabouts this season. Good additions to the squad make them definite play off contenders.

What is your starting line-up likely to be?

Bolland... Town's key man had indifferent Magpies stay

Alan Buckley is keeping his cards close to his chest on his formation. But I think he'll go 4-4-2.

GK - Phil Barnes. LB - Tom Newey. CB - Nick Fenton. CB - Ryan Bennett RB - Jamie Clarke. LW - Ciaran Toner. CM - Paul Bolland. CM - James Hunt. RW - Peter Till. CF - Isaiah Rankin. CF - Danny North.

What sort of encounter are you expecting?

It will be a close one. We like to play good football and County have some decent players. I don't expect too many goals though.

Prediction?

A tightly fought 1-1.
