Oppositions View - Chesterfield

How do you assess your sides recent form?

Apart from a glitch on Saturday we were unbeaten on the trot so looking good. It is all about putting a string of good results together to get up there and things were going well on that front until the Barnet game.

Who would you say is your key player?

Jack Lester. He has been quality and at 31 years of age he hasn't dropped his

Rooney... Aside from Lester, he is a danger
pace or his sharpness and he is looking a cut above. Some of the defences just can't handle him.

Who else should we look out for?

We have got a lad in on loan from Stoke City called Adam Rooney - no relation to Wayne though - and he is a good striker an looks like he has got a bit of pace to spare and also Aaron Downes who is a solid centre-back who played for the Australia under-20 side and is a good player.

What is the first thing you think of when you think of Notts County?

A little bit of turmoil really, with Howard Wilkinson and your Chairman leaving recently. I'm not sure how correct this is to say but am I right in thinking there isn't too much money?

Who do you see as Notts' danger men?

Lee... Could haunt his former employers
Jason Lee. He had a spell at Chesterfield which wasn't in fairness all that successful but there always seems to be something about old players coming back to haunt you.

How do you rate Notts boss Steve Thompson?

He has an awful lot of knowledge of the lower leagues and he has been around a long time. If anyone can do well for Notts under the present circumstances it is him. He has almost got one hand ties behind his back at the moment.

Where do you think you will finish this season?

It is difficult to say at this stage with each game being difficult. You can perhaps assess more the promotion credentials after a run of games but it is always difficult to say and that is the beauty of the game really. If you look at Nottingham Forest last year, had you asked a Forest reporter the same thing last October, with them top of the league, they'd have said they would be champions!

Where do you think Notts will finish this season?

I wouldn't like to judge. The way things are in the league any team that can get a bit of momentum or string three wins or so together has a chance.

What is your starting line-up likely to be?

Former Bournemouth star Steve Fletcher should start

(Chesterfield's starting eleven from their last game versus Barnet) GK - Barry Roche. RB - Gregor Robertson. CB - Janos Kovacs. CB - Aaron Downes. LB - Phil Pickin. RM - Peter Leven. CM - Jamie Winter. CM - Derek Niven. LM - Jamie Lowry. ST - Jack Lester. ST - Steve Fletcher.

What sort of encounter are you expecting?

Well it's a local derby so it will be a blood and thunder occasion. It might not necessarily be the team in form or the most skilful team who wins on the day.

Prediction?

Let me just say I am the worst person in the world to ask to predict a game so I won't do that!
