From behind enemy lines...

Mark's thoughts on...

The Game in general...

I did say we might not turn up - and we obliged. Great result for your boys, although we don't seem to like our trip to Meadow Lane in the first week in April, if you do stay up we'd like that changed I think. We (Blackpool) really need some sorting in the summer.

The Referee...

For once, no complaints. We had a quick glance at the assistant for your third goal but we won't make any excuses.

Notts County...

I thought you looked like a good, organised, Second Division side. You took advantage of our poor defending (particularly Steve Davis who played his first game for a while). From what I have read and seen the new manager has sorted you out and you must be very hopeful of staying up, although it must have been disappointing to see the other sides in the bottom four win.

Tony Scully's wonder strike...

Superb strike, agreed. But from our point of view, how Scully has run from your box to ours and only beaten two men is remarkable. He got a bit of luck when the ball came off Richie's legs into his path, but from then on it was a fantastic finish.

Best players on either side...

Heffernan- I told them to watch him!
Notts County: Paul Heffernan looked sharp and put away the two chances he got, although by all accounts you'll do well to hold onto him. Scully was also useful down the left - obviously the players hadn't read your esteemed editor's preview of the game on Seasiders.net! (linked at the bottom of the page)

Blackpool: It was a tough choice, but John Murphy worked hard up front with little service (other than the first five minutes) and Ciaran Donnelly was good in midfield.

Your rather poor away following...

Unfortunately that's the way it is at Bloomfield Road right now. Nothing to play for, Grand National Day, expensive trip and so on - and after that performance those who didn't show were justified.

The goals...

1-0 - See above

2-0 - Heffernan really shouldn't have been able to turn in the box, although it was a good finish.

3-0 - A simple tap-in by Scoffham, by this stage we'd fallen to pieces and again you got round the back.

3-1 - Sheron's consolation was a fine finish after good work from Murphy and we thought at that stage we might have a game on.

4-1 - However, Parkinson's pace was too much for us and he crossed for Heffernan who wasn't going to miss.

The eventful start to the game...

The turning point was probably the fact that we didn't score in the first five minutes. Matias had a good one-on-one chance, Garden saved brilliantly from Murphy's fine header and Sheron hit the bar in that same move when it was easier to score. If we'd put one of those away, I'm convinced it would have been a completely different game.

Notts County's hopes of staying up...

Your hopes of survival are still in the balance. Obviously the aim is to string some sort of run together and personally I'd like to see you stay up.
