Burton appoint Peschisolido

Burton Albion have today announced the man charged with taking the Brewers' first season in the football league. The League Two world was stunned when chairman Ben Robinson announced former Derby County forward Paul Peschisolido as the new gaffer at the Staffordshire club.

Former Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson seemed favourite for the job at the Pirrelli Stadium, but St. Patrick's Athletic coach Peschisolido impressed Robinson with his interview enough to land his first managerial job. He faces a big challenge transforming Burton into a league outfit, with the majority of the Albion squad remaining part time. This includes former Notts striker Shaun Harrad, and Greg Pearson, who nearly signed for the Magpies last summer.

Only two players remain under contract at Albion, and a big change in personnel is expected in the summer.

Port Vale and Chesterfield are yet to name their new managers, with John Ward and Micky Adams seeming favourites for the Vale Park post, along with former Anorthosis Famagusta boss and Newcastle United player Temuri Ketsbaia, while Jim Gannon and Cambridge United boss Gary Brabin are being linked to Saltergate.
