NCM takes a look at John Irving, who the club currently have a trial.

Name - John Irving
D.O.B - 17/09/1989
Place of Birth - Liverpool
Position - Right back
Former Clubs - Everton

Former Everton Reserves captain and player of the year John Irving has joined Notts County for a week's trial, and the right back comes with an excellent reputation in the youth and reserve game at the Toffees. Despite never having made a first team appearance for the Toffees, the 17 year-old Irving was named amongst the substitutes for a UEFA Cup tie with AZ Alkmaar, an extremely proud moment for the passionate Evertonian, who's middle name is Goodison.

The right back is a pacy defender who is equally comfortable in the centre and can even fill in on the left if needed. He is strong in the tackle and comfortable with the ball at his feet, making him a well rounded defensive prospect. He was highly rated at Goodison Park and many were surprised when David Moyes elected to release him at the end of the season. Now 19, Irving could prove a smart investment for years to come should Ian McParland be suitable impressed during his trial period at Meadow Lane.
