NCM takes a look at the players available to Ian McParland.
Sergio Torres
Position: Midfielder
D.O.B: 08.11.1983
Nationality: Argentinian
Cost: Transfer listed for around £50k
Current Team: Peterborough United
Previous Teams: Banfield, Molesey, Basingstoke Town, Wycombe Wanderers
Mercurial creative midfielder Torres is a 25 year-old Argentinian with a reputation for his skillful running and creative talents shown while at Wycombe Wanderers. Torres joined Wycombe after a successful spell at Basingstoke Town, and impressed consistently against Notts as we were unable to live with his creative abilities. After an unsuccessful spell at Peterborough United he has been transfer listed and will be available for a fee of £50,000 or less.Gareth Evans
Position: Striker
D.O.B: 26/04/1988
Nationality: English
Cost: Out of contract (compensation required)
Current Team: Macclesfield Town
Previous Teams: Crewe Alexandra
Young striker Gareth Evans impressed at Moss Rose last season as he reached double figures for the first time in his career. The fiery young striker was offered a deal at Manchester United as a youngster but opted to stay at Crewe Alexandra, but never made the grade at Gresty Road and was released before opting to join Macclesfield, his hometown club. He impressed last season with his tireless work rate and eye for goal, but his season was blemished by a number of sendings off, notably one at Meadow Lane for a horror tackle on Adam Tann.Sean Thornton
Position: Midfielder
D.O.B: 18/05/1983
Nationality: Irish
Cost: Out of contract
Current Team: Leyton Orient
Previous Teams: Tranmere Rovers, Sunderland, Blackpool (Loan), Doncaster Rovers, Shrewsbury Town (Loan)
Another mercurial talent in midfield, Sean Thornton has been capped 12 times for the Republic of Ireland Under 21's during a career that has seen him struggle to settle at a club. His creative talents and thunderous right foot are often offset by his furious temper and lack of discipline, but if this can be controlled he is a player who's talent is far above League Two level. He is yet to sign a new deal at Leyton Orient and is searching for a club further North and closer to his home, wage demands may be a problem but with the investment news it becomes more of a realistic possibility.
Scott GarnerPosition: Defender
D.O.B: 20/09/1989
Nationality: English
Cost: £100k+
Current Club: Mansfield Town
Previous Teams: Leicester City, Ilkeston Town
Solid and strong defender Garner was the shining light in the Stags' impressive end of season run as he was a rock in the centre of their defence after following manager David Holdsworth to the club from Ilkeston Town. The young defender came through the academy at Leicester City, but failed to make the grade and dropped down to Unibond league level with Ilkeston, but only made one appearance before moving to Field Mill. Tipped as a star of the future, Mansfield are unlikely to want to lose Garner so quickly but could be swayed with the right offer.
