Two Possible New Signings

Mills is hopeful of signing a defender and midfielder before today’s deadline. The two players have been named as Jonathan Bewers of Aston Villa and Mark Briggs, who is currently playing in Denmark.

Bewers can play in a number of defending positions – most notably right-back, which is what Mills is looking for, with the uncertainty of David Pipe staying permanently and also Mills has already stated, he would like Pipe to be able to play in midfield to create some movement down the right side of the park.

Mills Wants More Players
Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post: "Jon is the kind of player that can play in a number of different positions, one of those being right-back.

I have been looking at him for a little while now and I think he could be a useful addition.

But the fact that he can play at right-back is obviously important, given that we are a little short of cover in that area.”

Mark Briggs, is a 22-year-old English born midfielder, who began his career with West Brom but was released by the Baggies last summer and has been playing his football recently in Denmark.

"Mark is a midfielder who was released by West Brom over the summer and has recently been playing his football in Denmark, but he can also do a job for us." Mills told the NEP earlier today.

Both players, should they decide to come to Meadow Lane, are set to sign short-term contracts that will keep them on Notts County’s books until the end of the current season.

This will of course add depth to the squad and with the news that Darren Caskey has now left the club, there should be no concern as far as money is concerned in paying them a reasonable wage.
