Palmer impresses on return to side

With the surprise figure of Paul Bolland impressing on the left of late, and Tony Scully’s versatility alone earning him a place on the bench, the young former Derby winger has found it hard of-late to muscle his way into the side.

However, with Richardson’s side scrambled due to suspension, injury and international call-ups, the Notts boss granted Palmer (pictured right) a return to the side against Yeovil, with the young ‘wing wizard’ making his first appearance in ten Magpies outings.

And, after a slightly naïve call outlining himself as something of a want-away, Palmer now looks – after Tuesday’s performance – to be ready to knuckle down and settle in the side.

In talking to the Notts County Official Site, manager Richardson said "Chris wasn't best pleased being out of the side, but he has knuckled down of late and that was his best performance for a while,"

"He looked very lively and gave us an extra dimension on the left. He was prepared to have a few shots and also take on Yeovil, and it worked for us."

"The challenge is now for him to hold on to his place in the side," he added.
