NCM Poll Result - Best Loan Signing 2002/2003 Season

Whitley came out on top with 60% of the votes, after impressing during 3 month loan period from Manchester City and made 14 appearances in all.

He arrived on loan in October 2002 and remained on loan until mid January 2003, impressing with his hardworking performances. He was named captain for most of his time while on loan, with his arrival being a massive lift to players and supporters alike.

In second place was another loanee from Manchester City, Patrick McCarthy with 24.8%. The young defender spent the final month of the season on loan at Meadow Lane, and impressed with his tough tackling approach and his willingness to get forward.

Third place went to versatile Simon Ramsden, who spent the whole season on loan to The Magpies from Sunderland, picked up 8.6% of the votes. Able to perform in defence and midfield, he was a valuble member of the side, and made 34 appearances for Billy Dearden's side.

Another young defender who arrived on loan during the season was Jon Ashton, he spent a month on loan from Leicester City to cover for a defensive injury crisis and made 4 appearances during his month with The Magpies. He received 4.8% of the votes.

Finishing in fifth place was Duncan Jupp, who had a two month loan spell with Notts from Wimbledon and made 9 appearances before returning to Wimbledon. He recieved 1.9% of the votes.
