The Magpies won 4-0 against Ilkeston FC in pre-season game. Izale McLeod scored the first before Stead struck, with further goals from Alex Rodman and Graham Burke.
Stead said "We are looking good and controlled which is what the gaffer wants,
"We haven't really worked on that at all yet.
"We've only done one session of finishing as well, so we are still to get into the football which will make it more fluid.
"But if you get your chances then you like to take them no matter who the opposition is.”
