Ok, Ok so it was only a charity game but we beat Forest 3-2!! A great day was had by all and a handy £33,000 was raised in gate receipts alone.

The players that had been announced were all there, including oooo Tommy Johnson, Sir Charlie Palmer and Steve Cherry, while lining up for the Reds stars included Chris Bart-Williams, Nigel Clough and a rather large Kenny Burns.

Tommy Johnson and Dave Regis- both scored today
The game was played at an understandably slow pace, with 30 minutes each way being played.

Tommy Johnson fired The Magpies ahead early on with a trademark cutting left foot drive which beat Dave Beasant to the delight of all in Z Block who were having brilliant banter with some Forest fans, who were soon silenced!

European cup winner and ex Notts man Garry Birtles then put Forest level just before the break after a quick free-kick by Chris Bart-Williams, who was understandably, the best player on show.

We were then entertained by a penalty shoot-out at half time between two youngsters, which just added to the fun.

Dave Regis soon had the crowd on their feet after the break, turning Steve Chettle inside out before bravely heading past the substitute Forest 'keeper, who had won the competition on Century 106 FM to play in the game.

The tie was sealed though only after some over zealous stewards had tried to spoil the occasion by putting something between the Forest and Notts fans that really wasn't there.

Great support from both sets of fans today
Phil Stant then converted a penalty that he won himself, before Archie Gemmil looakalike Ian McParland hit a late consolation for Forest.

The attendance was announced at 8,702 which is absoloutly fantastic, thankyou to everyone that turned out.

The players did a lap of honour at the end to thank the fans that turned out, but I'd like to thank all of those very players, from both sides, without them it would not have been possible, and I'm sure a great day was had by all, I certainly had one!

Also, a quick thankyou to Richard Stanton and his team of organisers who did such a good job of organising the game so quickly and raising a load of money for Notts County Supporters Trust.
